Public Relations, commonly referred to as PR, is
hands down the best way to stay seen and available. Celebrities hire
firms to do nothing other than keep their face and name in the limelight and on
the collective public mind. That popularity pays off in high dollar
endorsements, advertising, spokes-modeling, and lead film or television
roles.
If you can’t afford the costs of the high powered
PR firm yet, there are other ways to accomplish staying visible in your local
market.
One of the most simple ways to stay in the public
eye is to do something positive in your community. Charities always need
entertainers for fund raising events, for example. If you’re willing to
get your hands dirty, volunteering for manual labor projects like Habitat for
Humanity are a good fit. Serve food in a homeless shelter, assist in
growing the arts in your local school system, or put together an improv troupe
to bring smiles and laughter into a nursing home. The possibilities are endless,
but choose something you will love so it doesn’t feel like an obligation.
Being active in community efforts and improving the
lives of the people in your immediate surroundings is not only a good way to
stay connected and in the public eye, it’s also fulfilling! Being able to
fully appreciate your good fortune will help keep your chin up through all the
hard knocks of entertainment, too.
