Your Mama gave you lots to work with, so use
it! Hopefully by now “please” and “thank you” are regular participants in
your vocabulary. If not, start practicing ASAP!
How can you make your please or thank you
stand out? There are some obvious ways, like simply using your lips to
form the words, which are helpful. If you have that part down, though,
try moving on to something more evolved to show appreciation. Another
easy answer is a “thank you” card.
Talent can use postcards to send a gentle reminder
and thank you to casting directors, producers, and directors, after being seen
or having worked with them on set. A simple post card with your branded
image works well to boost your likeness in their mind. Notes on these
postcards or thank you cards should not be lengthy, but must be specific and
unique! A simple “thank you for your time” would be better than a novel
three page letter about your favorite moments or over-complimentary view of
their work. My recommendation would be two or three sentences to show
appreciation, recognition, and individuality – short and sweet.
A secondary follow up after the dust has settled is
a positive reinforcement they will emotionally connect with your face.
Those warm fuzzies will turn into an added advantage on their next casting or
project!

Make Mama proud.
