New neighbors are always exciting, but they are especially noteworthy when they happen to be this big!
The complex will be called Pinewood Atlanta, and the studio will manage the large-scale facility through an agreement with private investors. The facility, being built on 288 acres just south of Atlanta, will include five soundstages and various production offices. Georgia already has an impressive resume of productions shooting within its borders, including hit shows and films such as The Walking Dead and The Hunger Games franchise.
Most productions filmed in Georgia have been smaller budget, in the range of $20-25 million. With the involvement of Pinewood, Georgia is opened up to larger budget productions. “It takes the state to a whole new level,” said Matt Forshee, president of the Fayette County Development Authority, who was involved in the Pinewood acquisition project.
